Report: Rutgers Likely to Replace Texas A&M in Gator Bowl

NJ Advance Media is reporting that Rutgers (5-7) will be accepting a bid to replace Texas A&M in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl against Wake Forest. The Aggies were forced to withdraw from the game due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The game is scheduled for New Year’s Eve in Jacksonville.

Gator Bowl officials searched for a suitable replacement and decided on the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers “qualified” for bowl eligibility with a 5-7 record due to their high APR. Illinois is another team that bowl officials were rumored to be looking into. Rutgers defeated the Illini this season and have the better APR.
